How to Baked Potatoes in Microwave

Baking Potatoes can be a long, drawn-out process. If you are using an oven, think about the time you will take to preheat your oven and then another hour to bake your potatoes. I love baking potatoes but avoided them for the amount of time it takes to cook. Why spend all this time using another method when you can get the same results in less time? In this recipe, you can use your microwave for baking potatoes in under 10 minutes.

I knew there had to be a more effortless and better way to save time in this process; thankfully, there is. The recipe was inspired by the Delish blog. https://www.delish.com/cooking/recipe-ideas/a25442533/how-to-bake-potato-in-microwave/

How to bake potatoes in microwave

Wash your potato

Wash your potato thoroughly, especially if you like to eat your baked potato with the skin. Pat dry to remove all the moisture as possible.

Pierce the potato with a fork, grease, and salt.

Using a fork, pierce your potato all over: this will cause the steam to evaporate during the heating process so that the potato will not explode in the microwave. Using a kitchen brush, grease your potato with oil and sprinkle salt all over.

Microwave your potato.

Place your potato on a safe microwavable plate. Depending on the size of your potato, start with 3-4 minutes. Using a tong flip the potato on the other side and microwave for another 3-4 minutes. Add more time if you need to ensure your potato is tender and fully cooked. Let it cool for about 2-3 minutes.

Using Toppings.

Use the topping of your choice, be creative, and make it fun. I use ground beef because it’s my favorite. Slice the potato down the middle or slice off the top. You can season with black pepper, top it with butter, bacon, sour cream, your favorite vegetables, add some cheese, and put it back in the microwave for a minute to get your cheese melted and crispy. Serve warm.
